Maltby is a former mining town and civil parish of approx..17,500 inhabitants in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It was historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It is located about 6 miles east of Rotherham town centre and 10 miles north-east of Sheffield city centre. It forms a continuous urban area with Hellaby, separated from the rest of Rotherham by the M18.

Maltby Town Council was formed in the year 2000, the Council comprises of 18 Councillors, the Council has 4 wards with Councillors allocated to each ward. Every year the Council elects one member as the Chair of the Council and one member as Vice Chair of the Council. Members register of interests are held on Rotherham Borough Council website.

The Town Council meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6.30pm in the Edward Dunn Memorial Hall, Tickhill Road, Maltby, S66 7NQ. There is a public session within the meeting, where members of public can address the Council.

The Council employs a team of 2 full time and 4 part time members of staff headed by the Town Clerk to implement the Council’s policies and services.
